Example of God’s people destroying idols, then Lord blessing
You will also defile the overlaying of your graven images of silver, and the ornament of your molded images of gold. You will throw them away like a woman’s unclean thing; and you will say to them, “Get away!”; Then He will give the rain for your seed with which you sow the ground, and bread from the earth; and it will be fat and plenteous. In that day your cattle will feed in large pastures. (Isaiah 30:22-23)
Example of idolatry cloaked in religion
And he said to his mother, “The eleven hundred shekels of silver that were taken from you, about which you cursed and also spoke of it in my ears—behold, the silver is with me; I took it.” And his mother said, “Blessed be you of the Lord, my son!” So he returned the eleven hundred shekels of silver to his mother. And his mother said, “I wholly dedicate the silver from my hand to the Lord for my son, to make a carved image and a molded image. Now therefore I will give it back to you.” (Judges 17:2-4)
